Contributing to Master Design & Construction Management

BriefBuilder’s co-founder Juriaan van Meel has been interviewed by Ronald van Warmerdam as a part of the Master course Design and Construction Management (DCM) at the Faculty of Architecture of Delft University of Technology. In the interview, Juriaan and Ronald discussed the importance of output-oriented specifications (a brief should not focus on the design itself, but on the desired outcomes), the relation between briefing and tendering (in integrated tenders, such as Design & Build tenders, the brief serves as a delivery contract, and should thus be more stringent), and the importance of dialogue between the client and the design team (a brief should not be seen as absolute—it can only benefit from critical feedback from the design team).
